Mechanical design

Parts drawn by the people who wrote the CAD

We built our own parametric modeler, down to the sketch solver and the drawing sheet. It is a strange thing for an engineering firm to have done, and it shows up in how we treat a tolerance.

Part and enclosure design

From a sketch on a napkin or from a part that already exists and has to be replaced. Modelled parametrically, so a dimension change later is an edit rather than a redraw.

Assemblies

Components mated together, checked for interference, and documented so the person assembling it knows the order.

Dimensioned drawings

Proper 2D sheets with GD&T, section and detail views, and a title block. Exported as DXF or PDF for the shop, or STEP for whoever is quoting the machining.

Design for manufacture

Wall thickness, draft, radii and fastener access, worked against the process that will actually make the part. A model that cannot be made is a drawing, not a design.

The tool

Forge is ours, and it is not for sale

Sketch constraints, solid modeling, sheet metal, assemblies, 2D drafting and CAM that posts G-code. We wrote all of it, and our engineers work in it every day. There is no plan to buy and no signup: it is a tool, not a product, and mentioning it here is about what the team knows rather than what you can license.

One practical consequence for you. When a project needs a viewable model, we can share a read-only link to the real geometry instead of a screenshot.

Send the part, or the problem

A STEP file, a photograph with a ruler beside it, or a description of what has to fit where. Any of those is a workable start.
