Verified education accounts
Schools, districts and universities running UAS programs can have their account recognised as an educational institution. Verification is a fact about the account. It is not a procurement relationship, and it does not change pricing or terms.

Verification attaches to a SpaltX account, so it starts from one. Sign in and the request form is on this page. If your organization does not have an account yet, create one first.
How it works
- 1Tell us who you areThe school, district, or institution, where it operates, and an official contact address for it.
- 2Prove the addressA .edu or district mailbox confirms itself by opening the link we send. Any other domain goes to our team, who write to that address about the documentation we need.
- 3Mark the fleetA verified account can mark its own aircraft as education, on the airframe records and anything our support desk sees.
We can withdraw a verification if the program ends or the account changes hands. A withdrawal also unmarks every aircraft that carried the badge.
Who this is for
Education operators
K-12 schools and districts, career and technical centers, colleges, universities, and the research labs inside them.
Holding a .edu or district mailbox is evidence in itself, because those domains are issued against eligibility checks. That is why a link to one settles the question in minutes. This is the common case in K-12. Most districts run on a .org or .net domain rather than .edu, and a charter or private school almost always does. Those schools verify by documentation, and it is not a lesser route.
What verification does is deliberately small and worth stating plainly: the account and the aircraft you choose to mark carry the education label, which our support desk and the airframe records read. It does not create a procurement relationship, it is not a reseller agreement, and it does not change pricing, terms, or what you are allowed to fly.
Schools
Most schools are not on a .edu, and that is fine
In the US, .edu is restricted to accredited postsecondary institutions. A university lab can confirm a mailbox and be done in a minute. The high school across town, on a .org or a district domain, cannot use that track at all, and that says nothing about whether it is a real school. Both routes end in the same verified account.
K-12 schools and districts
Usually on a .org, .net, or district domain rather than .edu. The documentation track is the normal route here, not a fallback.
Career and technical centers
CTE and vocational programs running UAS coursework. Domain varies, so either track may apply.
Colleges and universities
Accredited institutions hold .edu, so a mailbox on the campus domain settles it straight away. Department and lab subdomains work too.
Public school authorities
US districts on a district.k12.state.us address can verify by mailbox, the same way a .edu can.
What documentation we ask for
Something that ties the person asking to the school: a page on the district site listing you, a letter on letterhead, or an accreditation or state registration number. We write to the official address on the request and take it from there. We do not ask for student information, and you should not send any.
What it does not do
Verification marks the account and the aircraft you mark. It does not create education pricing, a classroom licence, or a purchasing agreement, because none of those exist to grant. If you are planning a program and need to know what a purchase would look like, that is a conversation, not a form.
Talk to us about a programWhoever flies is still responsible for the rules that apply to them. A school program in the US usually means FAA Part 107 or the recreational exception, plus Remote ID on the aircraft.
